About the Webinar

Communities Rise’s mission is to foster movements to build power in communities impacted by systemic oppression. We do this by supporting nonprofits, community based organizations, and small businesses to grow, thrive, and build lasting economic power. While Communities Rise serves all eligible nonprofits and small businesses in Washington State, we prioritize organizations with annual budgets of 500k or less and are led by or owned by people of color.


Join us on Thursday October 1st, 2026 11-2pm PST in Downtown Kent for an immersive and interactive workshop on common areas of law and compliance for nonprofits, including: State and federal legal requirements, corporate governance requirements, fundraising rules, managing staff and volunteers, intellectual property basics, and more. Come with your general questions! All are welcome and will enrich the experience. This workshop is suited best for those who have a direct hand in the organizational structure and decision making power for your community based organization. Due to the limited size of this workshop please register if only if you are able to attend the workshop in its entirety.

About the Presenters

Aimee Champion, Attorney

Rooted in Buddhist principles of mindfulness, interdependence, and reducing suffering, Aimee Champion (She/Her) approaches lawyering and nonprofit leadership as both a professional path and a spiritual practice. For over three decades, Aimee has nurtured self-advocacy alongside people living with diversities while navigating social, behavioral and sexual health, end-of-life systems of care, as well as those engaging with governmental departments and regulatory agencies. Her background in operational management, policy advocacy, and trauma-informed support brings clarity, presence, and deep respect for community stories as they unfold. She is honored to help strengthen the heart and economic resilience of Washington's nonprofit and small-business ecosystem. Aimee enjoys art and personal expression and is usually looking for live performances and new gallery shows to support.

Silver Lee, Capacity Building Program Manager

Silver Lee (They Them) is born and raised in King County and is an advocate for anti-displacement and anti-gentrification in the CID and surrounding south Seattle area. Prior to Communities Rise they worked in capacity building for healthcare workers through interprofessional collaboration and they have a strong background in the affordable housing and homelessness sphere. Silver has a master's in social work and a certificate in nonprofit management from the University of Washington. Silver is motivated to engage in supporting nonprofits and community-based agencies through their work. In their free time, Silver enjoys paddleboarding, baking, and berry picking.
